Ecotierra is a Canadian company dedicated to the development and operation of sustainable forestry and agroforestry projects with strong socioeconomic and environmental impacts. Based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, we also have offices in Peru, Colombia, and Honduras.


ElevaFinca is Ecotierra’s commercial brand, acting as a commercial facilitator and provider of integrated services for the sustainable coffee value chain. Its main role is to directly connect international green coffee buyers with agricultural cooperatives participating in our regenerative agroforestry projects.


The company commercially represents the raw materials produced through partnerships with financed cooperatives. Its operations combine the production of high-quality coffee with social and environmental impact objectives, including carbon credit generation and reforestation.

Compensation

Negotiable based on evaluation and demonstrated experience.


Position Objective

Plan, lead, execute, and oversee the company’s international commercial strategy, ensuring the sustainable growth of the commodities business, primarily coffee, the efficient integration of the value chain, market expansion, and achievement of corporate objectives related to profitability, volume, and brand positioning.


Strategic Planning and Expansion

  • Define the direction: Design, structure, and continuously update the national and international sales strategy while overseeing the development and consolidation of the value chain strategy.

  • Develop new markets: Identify new clients and countries for business expansion while assessing associated risks.

  • Operational alignment: Coordinate annual commercial strategic planning with production units to ensure supply meets demand and contracts are fulfilled in terms of quality and timelines.


Direct Team Leadership

  • Commercial team: Directly lead the sales and business development team.

  • Internal service areas: Manage the person responsible for the quality control and logistics teams.


Innovation and Processes

  • Modernize tools: Implement technologies and systems that support sales activities and improve information sharing.

  • Optimize the value chain: Ensure effective integration between the company’s teams to make the business more competitive and sustainable.


Management Execution and Leadership

  • Performance management: Ensure sales, profitability, and business growth targets are achieved.

  • Budget and resources: Manage the resources of the department and the teams under direct supervision.

  • Decision-making: Address strategic and operational challenges to support business success while respecting the company’s values and vision.


Training and Internal Communication

  • Talent development: Train and strengthen the technical capabilities of the teams under direct supervision.

  • Information sharing: Ensure market trends and client information are shared internally to improve performance across all departments.


External Relations and Negotiation

  • Key partnerships: Maintain direct relationships with major clients, commercial partners, and industry institutions.

  • Deal negotiation: Lead complex negotiations and represent the company at key industry events.


Academic Background

  • University degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness, or a related field.

  • MBA, Master’s degree in Commercial Management, International Business, Agribusiness, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant and demonstrated professional experience.


Required Experience

  • More than 10 years of experience in commercial management.

  • Demonstrated experience in international B2B sales.

  • Experience in the commercialization of agricultural commodities.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

  • Experience in coffee, cocoa, or other internationally traded agri-food products is preferred.

  • Experience with exporting companies or agribusinesses is preferred, ideally with an established client portfolio.

  • Experience in value chain development and consolidation.


Technical Knowledge

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office at user level.

  • Experience with CRM and commercial management tools.

  • Advanced English, spoken and written.

  • Budget management and performance indicators.
