On September 26th, the second edition of the One Planet Summit took place in New York City. Alongside the UN General Assembly, the event brought together actors from the public and private sectors to share their commitments and advances in the fight against climate change.
ECOTIERRA was featured through Northern Peru Café Selva Norte Project and cited as an inspiring model and a wind of change in the world of responsible finance.
Financed by the Canopy Sustainable Land use Fund, a fund created by ECOTIERRA with the help of Fondaction and in which the Mirova's Land Degradation Neutrality Fund intends to invest, the Café Selva Norte Project will help ensure a transition towards sustainable land use, strengthen the coffee value chain, reduce carbon emissions and, of course, improve small producers' livelihood.
Simultaneously, ECOTIERRA held field workshops with the Café Selva Norte project's 4 partner cooperatives in the project's Jaén office in Northern Peru. Since co-construction has always been at the heart of ECOTIERRA's values, the cooperatives were able to share their opinions, ideas and questions to ready up improved project's model for the deployment at the imminent closure of the fund.
